Objective: To preliminarily explore the radioprotective effects of the five plateau natural medicines of Yunnan province to 60Co γ-rays irradiated mice. Methods: The radiation-damaged model that was established by making the mice exposed to 60Co γ-rays at a dose of 6Gy was applied to evaluate the radioprotective effects of the five plateau natural medicines of Yunnan province. In experiments, the body weights of the mice; the erythrocyte, the leukocyte, the platelet counts in peripheral blood;the bone marrow DNA contents;the number of karyota of femur in mice;the spleen index and the thymus index;and the endogenous spleen colony forming units were measured.Results:1)In the experiments of the alcoholic extract of Angelica oncosepala, the aqueous extract of Gymnadenia conopsea, the alcoholic extract of Gymnadenia conopsea and so on, the experimental parameters were no significant difference between the three drug groups and the irradiating control group. 2) In the experiment of the aqueous extract of Angelica oncosepala, 14 days after irradiation , the erythrocyte counts in peripheral blood were increased significantly in the median dose and low dose drug group compared with the irradiating control group(P< 0. 01). 3) After irradiation the different doses of aqueous extract of some herb were administrated into the stomachs of the mice. In the high dose drug group ,the hematological parameters and the number of karyota of...
