Ferula fukanensis, as an important drug collected in Chinese Pharmacopoeia, has been widely used to treat inflammation, dyspepsia and infection in many countries and districts. In order to study the chemical constituents and develop a more efficient quality control project, 7 compounds were isolated from the low polarity part of the 95% EtOH extract of Ferula fukanensis, from them, 7 compounds were structurally identified by means of various modern spectroscopic techniques (NMR, MS, IR.UV and so on ) and on the basis of their physical properties. Among them, two were isolated in the genus Ferula for the first time. The chemical work provided a material base for the quality control and new drug development.Zygophyllum fabag belongs to the family Zygophyllaceae, the genus Zygophyllum, has been widely used to anti-infammatory, antipyretic, antidiarrhoeal, antihypertensive and lowwing blood glucose. In order to study the chemical constituents and develop a more efficient quality control project, 7 compounds were isolated from the 95% EtOH extract of Zygophyllum fabag. The structures of them were elucidated as follows: stigmast-4-en-3-one, 3-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl] -quinovic acid, astragalin,β-sitosterol. daucosterol, n-noctacosanol, n-dotriacontanoL.This thesis also reviewed advances of the chemical and pharmacological studies of the genus Ferula and the genus Zygophyllum.
