| Objective: To observe therapeutic effects of Trigonella foenum greacum. L Saponin (TFGs) on alcoholic fatty liver (AFL) of rats, trying to clarify the mechanism of it's therapeutic effects. Methods: The model of alcoholic fatty liver was established by intragastricly feeding rats with the mixture of white spirit and emulsion containing high fat for 10 weeks. When pathological inspection showed that the model of alcoholic fatty liver of rats was established, intragastricly fed rats with TFGs for 4 weeks, at the same time, the positive control group was intragastricly fed with silymarin. After the rats were killed, liver homogenate was prepared. Serum level of total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein (LDL-C), total bilirubin (T Bili), albumin(ALB) was detected; activity of Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) , alanine aminotransferase (ALT), glutamyltranspeptidase (GGT) was detected; hepatic contents of TC, TG were tested; Serum level of tumor necrosis factor(TNF- α ) ,adiponectin was examined by enzyme-linked immunospecific assay (ELISA) method. Results: With TFGs treatment, contents of serum TC, LDL-C,T Bili of AFL rats were significantly decreased; activity of AST, ALT was depressed; hepatic contents of TC, TG were significantly reduced; the level of Serum TNF-α decreased while level of adiponectin increased highly. Steatosis of hepatic tissue obviously improved. But Serum level of TG increased as compared with that of the normal group. |
