Background: Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) are both common in the prostatic diseases clinically. They both may result in Lower Urinary Tract Symptom (LUTS) because of enlargement. BPH is presented as dysuria, frequent micturition, urgency of micturition, etc. It also may bring on urinary stones, result in failure of kidney function, etc., which will have a great impact on the Quality of Life (QOL) of old men.BPH belongs to Long Bi (difficulty in urination) in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Localized in bladder, it has a close relationship with triple energizer, lung, spleen and kidney, etc. Senile decay and deficiency of kidney Qi are the fundamental cause of occurrence. Blood stasis, stagnation of phlegm, stagnation of Qi and bad Jing are the basic pathological causes. Deficiency of Ben and sufficiency of Biao are the characteristics of pathogenesis. According to the difference of sthenia and asthenia, treatment should be set in accordance with stasis of dampness and heat, lung heat and stasis of Qi, decline of spleen Qi, deficiency of kidney, stagnation of liver Qi, blood stasis of lower energizer, among which dysfunction of kidney Qi transformation and blood stasis are the two most vital factors leading to the occurrence of BPH.Objective: The discussion about Chinese traditional medicine through blood vessel interventional therapy in the near, center, the forward curative effect of benign prostatic hyperplasia, and preliminarily discussing the influenceof interventional artery embolism to the quantity of hemorrhage during TURP.Method: 132 patients have the symptom of BPH had taken blood vessel interventional therapy. Under X-Ray guided, Makes internal iliac artery and the blood supply artery of prostate gland selectivity, the ultra selectivity by catheter through angiography, afterwards pours into the oil of zedoary turmeric or the oil of Seed Bruceae through the catheter, and uniting the stainless steel loop^ ultra liquefied iodinated Oil embolized the blood vessel to treat. After the operation, in one month, 1-2 years, 3-4 years, 5-6 years separately made a follow-up visit to 78 patients through the questionnaire survey in order to observe the clinical effect of this interventional therapy. Results: The patients were followed up for one month, 1-2 years, 3-4 years after operation, their prostate gland volume, the biggest urine rate of discharge, remaining urine volume, IPSS grade, L grades as well as the uninary system general grade compare with the ones before the interventional therapy were all statistically significant(P<0.05). But makes a follow-up visit 5-6 year result to indicate that, patient IPSS and the L grade change were not statistically significant (P>0. 05), after the oil of zedoary turmeric and the oil of Seed Bruceae groups involve the technique to make a follow-up visit in one month, 1-2 year, 3-4 year, two groups of patients' prostate gland volumes, the biggest urine rate of discharge, remaining urine volume, IPSS grade, L grades as well as the uninary system general grade compares mutually were not statistically significant(P>0.05). After the interventional therapy, 18 patients had TURP again, their bleeding obviously reduce during and after TURP, and there was not a patient need to transfuse blood at the same time. Around TURP, the patients' hemoglobin, red cell counting and the hematocrit determination all were not statistically significant (P>0. 05). Conclusions: Interventional therapy through blood vessel in benign prostatic hyperplasia is a kind of safe> effective micro-therapy. This research indicated the therapy' s shorU intermediate stage curative effect is satisfied, its long-term curative effect is unsatisfied, but the bigger sample foundation further studies are waited for carried on. The oil of zedoary turmeric and the oil of Seed Bruceae separately use in the interventional therapy of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Their near, intermediate stage curative effect does not have the difference through comparison. Regarding the BPH patient which wants to have TURP, the prostate gland artery embolism technique before TURP may effectively reduce bleeding during TURP. Strictly in control of theaccommodation of interventional therapy in BPH, strengthening the prostate gland artery radiography research under DSA to be helpful in enhances the curative effect and the development rate of prostate gland artery and success ratio of inserting.
