Objective : The aims of the study were to explore the association between plasma von willebrand factor and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 levels with short-term adverse cardiovascular events. Methods: Eighty payients with ACS,forty controls were studied from the April to September in 2005, forty patients with UA ,forty patients with AMI .Study the occurrence of multiple events(including cardiac death, nonfatal recurrence myocardial infarcyion, nonfatal heart failure and repeated accession of angina pectoris need to strengthen drug or emergency reperfusion) in the phase of 4to 6 weeks ;research the correlation between plasmia vWFand PAI-1 with cardiovascular events. Results: At 4 to 6weeks ,the multiple events rate was 26.25% in ACS,mean vWF and PAI-1 was always higher in patients with events compared with those who remained free of events. Individuals with plasmia vWFlevels in the highest quartile showed a 5.637-fold(95%CI 1.128 to 28.16)increase in the risk of multiple events compared withthose in the lowest quartile by multiple logistic regression analysis . Individuals with plasmia PAI-1 levels in the highest quartile showed a 5.013fold (95%CI 1.027to24.49) increase in the risk of multiple events compared with those in the lowest quartile by logistic regression analysis .Individuals with vWF and PAI-1 levels all in the highest quartile presented a 9.333-fold( 95%CI 2.138to40.75) increase in the risk of the events. Conclusion: vWF and PAI-1 plasmia levels were firmly associated with the short-term prognosis in ACS patients.
