Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the re-expression of E-cadherin/catenin complex in cancerous cells of metastatic lymph nodes from colorectal carcinoma, and examine the relationships between this re-expression and various clinicopathologic characteristics, and attempt to seek the pathway to prevent the occurrence and development of colorectal metastatic spots. Methods: S-P immunohistochemical technique was used to examine the expressions of E-cadherin,α-catenin,β-catenin andγ-catenin in 62 primary colorectal tumors and the corresponding matastatic lymph nodes. The expressional levels of these adhesion molecules were compared between primary tumors and metastatic lymph nodes, and whose correlations with clinico-pathological characteristics, such as the differentiative degree of tumor, and survival time of patients were analyzed. Results: The expressions of E-cadherin,α-,β- andγ-catenin in the normal colorectal mucosa located in the cell membrane of columnar epithelium and glandular epithelium of bowel cavity. The expressions were strongly positive and the staining in cell plasm were negative. The expressions in...
