| Objective: Lupus miliaris faciei (LMF), a chronic inflammatory disorder, is a controversial etiology and pathogenesis entity. Smooth-surfaced, brownish-red, discrete or confluent, 1~3 mm dome-shaped papules (sometimes with mild scaling)are its clinical characteristics. The condition is most often seen in dolescents and adults of both sexes, and diascopy may reveal apple-jelly nodules. Usually, the scar influences patients'health of heart and body badly. The histopathologic characteristics of lupus miliaris faciei displayed tubercular infiltration, conspicuous caseation necrosis. Originally considered a variant of lupus tuberculosis or a tuberculid, there is doubtful evidence supporting a link to tuberculosis. Someone had detected Mycobacterium tuberculosis in LMF lesion secretion or formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded tissue, but someone hadn't. And someone suggested that LMF could represent an allergic reaction due to the antigen diffusion of a deep tuberculous focus. Other considertion include foreign body granulomas, granulomatous rosacea. Some studies have proved that LMF is induced by an immunological mechanism and the results of some immunocyte examination were abnormal. The expression of IFN-γand lysozyme in the LMF patients'... |
