Objective:An acute spinal cord injury (SCI) model of rat was made by weight loading techniques(according to Nystrom's method). The objective of this study is to observe the effects of erythropoieitin(EPO) on the progress of neural function's recovery. We choose to measure the motor functions of hind limbs at different time points, and compare them with methylprednisolone(MP) group. At the same time points, the expressions of NF-κB in spinal cord was measured. To explore the mechanism of EPO treatment in SCI and the effects of NF-κB in secondary injury, provide experimental bases for clinical treatment of acute spinal cord injury.Method: 77 health mature male SD rats,weight(300±20)g,were randomized divided into four groups:normal control group(n=5):only laminectomy was made without impact trauma; trauma model group(n=24): no special treatments after SCI; EPO treatment group(n=24):only with rhEPO injection after SCI; MP treatment group(n=24):only with MP injection after SCI.The animals were pronated on the operating table after anesthetized. The thirteenth thoracic vertebra(T13) laminectomy was performed, and the spinal cord was exposed. The spinal cord...
