The major mission of tissue engineering is to reform and regenerate tissue and organ by bioengineering method at tissue level. Tissue Engineering is the application of principles and methods of engineering and life sciences toward the fundamental understanding of structure-function relationships in normal and pathological mammalian tissues and development of biological substitutes to restore, maintain, or improve tissue function. It is a revolution of surgical means and mode to treat tissue defects and organ function disorder. Scaffold, as the carrier for cells growing, plays an important role in tissue restoration. The aim of this paper is to prepare and characterize gradient scaffold for tissue engineering, to open up the new inter-disciplines field of polymer, biomaterials and functional gradient materials. The three-dimensional (double-layer and multi-layer) gradient porous foams were prepared by novel solvent-casting and particulate-leaching technique. Porosity and pore size of the scaffold were controlled using the different ratio of PLLA to sodium chloride and the particle size of the added salt particles. A highly porous three-dimensional scaffold with a well...
