Objective: As the development of medical techniques and the advance of the diagnosis in recent years, the survival rate of premature and low birth weight infants is increasing. Since premature infants are born too early. With immature organs and system function, they are likely to have infection, asphyxia, malnutrition, and so on. According to the reports in foreign countries, premature and low birth weight infants have a very long negative effect on children's intelligent development, and their behavior development is also far behind normal babies. According to a survey, the incidence of mental retardation(MR)of premature infants was 7.8%.According to our country's research, the incidence of disability and cerebral palsy of premature infants also increases .the rehabilitation cost for mental retardation and cerebral palsy premature infants is quiet high, elder patients cannot be cured ,just for improved life quality . Bring disabled babies is a great burden for family and society, so, improve premature infants living standard and help them grow normally is a great task for health care professions. Therefore, since April 2001, we make early intervention mainly in stressing motion and motor training to premature infants, so as to improve premature infants intelligent and motor development process and raise their intelligent and motor level.Methods: 434 cases of survived premature infants, gestational age from 32 to 36weeks, excluding those with congenital deformity ,hereditary metabolic diseases and serious complication , were randomly assigned to 2 groups: early intervention group (219cases) and routine care group (215cases).The number of infants in the two groups were quite close.
