In the complicated course of carcinogenesis and metastasis of tumor, the activation of proto-oncogene and the dysfunction of suppressor gene are very important. EphA2 is one of the Eph families,Signal conduction mediated by Eph receptors and their ligands Ephrins is involved in many processes of the life , Eph receptors is also supposed to be involved in tumorigenesis , invasion and metastasis of tumours. E-cadherin is mainly involved in the regulation of cell-cell attachment, the expression of E-cadherin is very low in some tumours with metastasis. By the methods of hybridize in situ and immunohistochemistry, the expressions of EphA2 and E-cadherin were detected in esophageal carcinoma tissues, corresponding normal tissues and EC9706 and Eca109, and the correlationship of the expressions of EphA2 and E-cadherin (mRNA and protein) with the pathologic characteristics was analysed. I In addition, We studied the functions of EphA2 and E-cadherin and the correlation of them both in carcinogenesis , invasion and metastasis of esophageal carcinoma.Materials and methods:1.By the method of immunohistochemistry ,the expressions of EphA2 protein were observed in 232 cases of surgically resected esophageal squamous carcinoma specimens, and E-cadherin protein were observed in 174 cases of surgically resected...
