Objective To investigate and analyze the relationship between the clinicopathologic features, survial time and the quality of life in the last ten years. To discuss the influenceof HME, VEGF and MVD on the prognosis in human colon cancer. Methods Collect the case of the patients with colon cancer who underwent surgical resection between 1994 and 2003 at First Affiliated Hospital, Anhui Medical University. Register clinicopathologic features and follow-up visit the patients. Then choose 176 patients with the complete clinicopathologic features as the group of disease, and 30 colon polypus, health colon mucosal as control group. The paraffin-embedded tissue specimens of the two groups are made by serial sections. Identify the expression of HME VEGF and MVD in colon cancer and noncarcinoma tissue through S -P immimohistochemistry. Analyze not only he relationship of clinicopathologic features and prognosis, but the survial time and the expression of HME, VEGF and MVD. The quality of 116 patients with colon cancer receiving surgery and 100 healthy controls were evaluated by SF-36.Results In this study, Survival time is correlated with Duke's stage, lymph node metastasis, liver metastasis, recurrence and chemotherapy in the surgery(P<0.05). Expression of HME and VEGF is significantly higher in colon cancer than that in colon polypus and health colon mucosal (P<0.05).And expression of HME and VEGF in colon polypus and health colon mucosal is not significantly different(P>0.05). Expression of HME is negative correlation with Duke's stage and liver metastasis(P<0.05). Expression of VEGF and MVD value is positive correlation with Duke's stage, lymph node metastasis, liver metastasis (P<0.05). The relationship of expression of HME, VEGF in the patients with recurrence and nonrecurrence ,and the relationship of expression of HME, VEGF in the patients before and after the recurrence is not significantly different(P>0.05). Expression of HME in the patients with liver metastasis is significantly lower than that in the patients with no liver metastasis, and...
