Objective: To investigate the expression of Survivin and its relationship with the clinical features of hilar cholangiocarcinoma and the correlation between the expression of Survivin and P53 and prognosis. Methods: In 86 specimens of hilar cholangiocarcinoma, 10 specimens of tissues near the carcinoma, 10 specimens of normal bile duct tissues, the expressions of Survivin and P53 were detected by immunohistochemistry methods. Laboratory data were then analysed statistically togather with the related clinical-pathological data. Results: (1) In 86 cases of hilar cholangiocarcinoma, Survivin was expressed in 71 cases, the positive rate was 82.6%. P53 was expressed in 66 cases, the positive rate was 76.7%. Survivin and P53 were not detected in tissues near the carcinoma and normal bile duct tissues. The expression of Survivin in hilar cholangiocarcinoma had no association with age and gender (P>0.05) , tumor size (P>0.05) , the Bismuth type (P>0.05), pathological stage (P>0.05), but the expression was closely related with lymph node metastasis(P<0.05). The expression of P53 in hilar cholangiocarcinoma was closely related with pathological stage and lymph node metastasis(P<0.05), but the expression had no association with age and gender (P> 0.05) , tumor size (P>0.05) , the Bismuth type (P>0.05) .(2) Of the 71 Survivin-positive cases, P53 was expressed in 58 cases. Of the 15 Survivin-negative cases, P53 was expressed only in 8 cases, the difference had significance(P<0.05). (3) The expression of Survivin had correlation with prognosis. The 2-year-survival rate of...
