The Diagnostic Value Of The Whole Blood Zinc Concentration In Carcinoma Of Prostate

【Objective】In cancer affected prostate cells lose the ability to concentrate zinc and consume zinc more ,resulting in a substantial decrease in Zn in the patient. We investigated the possibility of using the whole blood zinc concentration as an important examination means for the reliable diagnosis of prostate cancer .【Materials and Methods】33 patients with prostate carcinoma(Pca) were selected,the average age was 74 years old;35 patients with benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH)are selected, the average age was 70 years old;6 patients with prostatitis were selected,the average age was 56 years old; healthy male 9 example(healthy volunteer), the average age was 52 years old.Zinc concentrations in human circulation were analyzed by atomic absorption spectrometry.Clinical records include age, serum prostate specific antigen(PSA) and histological findings.【Results】The value of the whole blood zinc concentration in Pca group was 4.662±1.706μg/ml,in BPH group was 7.074±1.554μg/ml,in prostatitis group was 4.908±1.307μg/ml and in healthy male group was 5.923±1.225μg/ml。The whole blood zinc concentration were significant discriminate between Pca group and BPH group(p<0.001),and the distinction could be also seen between Pca group and health male(p=0.03),whereas not being seen between Pca group and prostatitis group(p=0.07). Compared with BPH, the area under ROC curve was 0.836, the diagnostic value is optimal with 6.4μg/ml set as the cut-off value of the whole blood zinc concentration , combined with serum PSA(connection in series),the sensibility is 77.1% and the specificity is 79.4%。DO not discover the whole blood zinc concentration and the Pca gleason score exist relativity.【Conclusions】1)In different prostate diseases the whole blood zinc...
