Objective:To investigate the risk factors influencing the morbidity of transurethral resection syndrome(TURS) due to transurethral vaporization of prostate(TUVP).Methods:All 524 patients undergoing TUVP were reviewed retrospectively, which were from 52 to 90 (71.1±7.1)years old.Among them,475 patients were benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH);27 patients were the postoperative recurrence of BPH,including 3 after suprapubic prostatectomy and 24 after TUVP;15 patients were BPH with prostatic carcinoma, of which were 5 incidental carcinoma;4 patients were BPH with urethral tumor. The morbidity of TURS due to TUVP was summarized and counted firstly.Logistic regression test was used in the TURS morbidity study for multivariate analysis secondly. In Logistic regression test, each parameter was evaluated with univariate analysis to define whether it was statistical significance(p<0.1) or not. Then, the parameters with statistical significance entered for further multivariate analysis. At last, matching case-control study and conditional Logistic regression was applied to the analysis for the most possible factors, depended on the circumstances. All 15 parameters including operation date, the type of irrigation solution, preoperative urinary tract infection, preoperative catheterization, preoperative cystostomy, operative time, intravesical protrusion prostate(IPP),the weight of prostatic tissue resected, prostate volume, the perforation of prostatic capsula or bladder, age, accompanied diseases, intervention, intraoperative blood loss(transfusion requirement),albumin(ALB) were chosen to analyze the risk factors influencing the morbidity of TURS due to TUVP.Results: The morbidity of TURS due to TUVP was 2.1% (11/524); TURS occurred in 4 during operation and in 7 at the end of operation;3 patients had symptoms,8 no.
