Objective To study the dynamic changes of S100B protein in subarachnoid aneurismal hemorrhage and investigate the clinical significance in the development of the disease. Methods 43 patients admitted within 24h after subarachnoid aneurismal hemorrhage onset, dynamic measuring serum concentration of S100B protein in patients at different days, evaluating the association with the clinical degree in admission, cerebral vasospasm and prognosis of subarachnoid aneurismal hemorrhage. Results The concentrations of S100B protein raised obviously in subarachnoid aneurismal hemorrhage patients, significantly different from that in the control group respectively, and the mean daily value of S100B predicting a poor outcome. Especially, initial S100B peak were appeared in vasospasm patients, and they presented second peak when cerebral infarction occered, this situation can not be found in the other patients. Conclusions S100B protein has been described as a biologic marker of neuronal damage. S100B protein in serum can be used as a peripheralmarker of subarachnoid aneurismal hemorrhage, and it shouled be measured early and dynamic.
