Obesity is a broad concept , including two categories of overweight and obesity.Understanding of the relationship between obesity and health for a long time did not reach a consensus in the medical profession. The United States National Institutes of Health panel of experts had reach a consensus until 1985,they though that"There are ample evidence:Obesity has adverse effects on health and longevity. It will be defined as the body to store excess fat in the form of energy."In 1997,WHO also declared that obesity was a disease clearly.Several decades, obesity has become one of the world's health concerns,in some developed countries, there was a higher prevalence of obesity , and with economic development in some developing countries , people's lifestyle changes. In particular diet and behavior change, there was a dramatic upward trend on obesity and related chronic diseases.Currently, with the continuous deepening of obesity research, obesity is becoming more and more people's attention. The report of the Nutrition and Health Status of the Chinese People survey data in 2002 showed that the prevalence of overweight and obesity has been significantly increased among both children and adults. In Chinese adults, the prevalence ofoverweight was 22.8%,and the prevalence rate of obesity was 7.1%,and the estimated total numbers were 200 million and over 60 million. Formulating the corresponding control measures is inevitable. And the premise is the first thing that we need to control obesity causes or risk factors clearly, prevention and find a point of entry."controllable point."The incidence of obesity is related with genetics and environment, studies show that environmental factors may be more important. The project planning of this research is that take some of the rural residents aged over 40 in Jilin province of China for the survey targets. We conducted a questionnaire survey and physical examination of them, including 356 male and 595 female residents to participate in this study.Understand preliminarily the situation of the prevalence of Jilin Province in rural residents on obesity.Discuss the risk factors in obese and the relationship between these and related diseases.Shows the extent of the health hazards of obesity. The results of research can provide scientific theoretical foundation of controlling obesity measures in our country. During the course of this investigation , we statistical analysised with a body mass index, waist to hip ratio and body fat percentage of obesity classification criteria respectively.Use the method by a cross-sectional studies. The results of the survey reveal:the prevalence of obesity has reached a relatively high level, and become an important health problem in some rural areas of Jilin province , especially in middle-aged and older adults. It shows significant correlation between obesity and lifestyle factors.Age,a sedentary lifestyle, smoking and drinking are the potential risk factors of obesity. Obesity can make the risk of obesity-related diseases such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension and dyslipidemia increase.
