Objective: To illuminate the relationgship between Ezrin, E-cadherin and CD44v6 and axillary lymphatic metastasis of human invasive ductual breast cancer, we examine expression of Ezrin, E-cadherin and CD44v6 in human invasive ductual breast cancer tissue , breast fibroadenoma tissue and breast mastopathy tissue. Methods: 40 cases definitely diagnosed as invasive ductual breast cancer (including 20 cases with axillary lymphatic metastasis and 20 cases without axillary lymphatic metastasis), 10 cases as fibroadenoma and 10 cases as mastopathy were collected. Expression of Ezrin, E-cadherin and CD44v6 were examined by immunohistochemistry staining. Relationship between Ezrin, E-cadherin and CD44v6 was analysed as well as relationship between those tumor markers and axillary lymphatic metastasis of invasive ductual breast cancer. Results: 1. Ezrin and CD44v6 expression in invasive ductual breast cancer were significantly higher than those in mastopathy and fibroadenoma tissue (P<0.05). And, E-cadherin expression in invasive ductual breast cancer were significantly lower than that in mastopathy and fibroadenoma tissue (P<0.05). 2. In invasive ductual breast cancer tissue, Ezrin and CD44v6 expression in group with axillary lymph node metastasis were higher than that in group without axillary lymph node metastasis (P<0.05). And, E-cadherin expression in group with axillary lymph node metastasis were higher than that in group without axillary lymph node metastasis (P<0.05). 3. In breast tissue, Ezrin was positively correlated with CD44v6 expression (P<0.05), while Ezrin was negtively correlated with E-cadherin expression (P>0.05).Conclusion: Ezrin, E-cadherin and CD44v6 are closely related to invasive ductual breast cancer, suggesting that they are important tumor markers in predicting axiilary lymphatic metastasis of invasive ductual breast cancer.
