Background and ObjectivePituitary adenoma is one of the most common intracranial benign tumors (about 10%),which ranks the third in intracranial tumors with the incidence rate about 1/100000~7/100000. Its incidence reached 10%. It's most common in early or middle adult age (20-40 years old).There's no significant between male and female. Generally speaking, pituitary adenomas with characteristics of localized growth and without metastasis have good prognosis after surgery. But some of pituitary adenomas have malignant potential such as invasive growth,destroy the bone, invade the dural, nerve, cavernous sinus and blood vessel widely and could not be removed completely, therefore, the therapy effect is relative limited. The invasion of adenomas is one of the most important reasons of its recurrent. With the progress of molecular biology, some scholars studied the pituitary adenomas from cell to molecular level, to interpret the biological behavior, guide the therapy and predict the prognosis, meanwhile, to provide guidance for the medication.VEGF, an important angiogenesis stimulator, can promote the procedure of angiogenesis and thus enhance the development and progression tumors. The Ki-67 antigen is a protein present in the nuclei of cells in the phase of proliferation. Its expression is a marker of the cell in mitosis. Thus, this could reflect the proliferation and invasiveness of the cell . Studying the expression of VEGF and Ki-67 antigen in pituitary adenomas is significant and could provide a novel approach for prevention and treatment of pituitary adenomas.By examining the expression of VEGF and ki-67in invasive pituitary adenoma aswell as noinvasive pituitary adenomas ,to investigate the relationship between, aswell as to investigate the effects of VEGF expression on vascular endothelial growthfactor and angiogenesis in pituitary adenomas.MethodsThe protein expression of VEGF and ki-67 was examined by streptavidin peroxidase immunohistochemical staining.we examined 30 invasive pituitary adenomas and 30 non-invasive patienses, counting cells and observe the immune-ohistochemical marks.Resuts1 .VEGF positive rate in in vasive group of pituitary adenoma is 57% in noinvasive group of Pituitary adenoma is 30 % .After statistial treatment the difference has statistial significance. BCi-67 positive rate in invasive group of pituitary adenoma is 60.6% in noinvosive group of Pituitary adenoma is 36.4% After statistial treatment the difference has statistial significance2. The relationship between the expression of VEGF Ki-67 and the recurrent of pituitary adenoma. VEGF positive rate in recurrent group of pituitary adenoma is 66.7%. in norecurrent group is 21.7%. After statistial treatment the difference has statistial significance. Ki-67 positive rate in recurrent group77.8 % , in norecurrent group is29.2%.After statistial treatment the difference has statistial significance.3 .The expression of VEGF Ki-67 in Pituitary adenoma has obvious relality. ConclusionThe expression of VEGF in the invasive pituitary adenomas is high in limitation type, explain that the VEGF participates the pituitary adenomas to encroach upon the growth process.The expression of ki-67 in the pituitary adenomas building up explain that it participated the occurrence development process of the pituitary adenomas. It is high in the expression of the invasive pituitary adenomas than limitation type show that ki-67 may participate the pituitary adenomas to encroach upon the growth.Expression of The VEGF and ki-67 in pituitary adenomas have the obvious relativity,express that both distinguish each from rise the function at the same time, be in conjunction with the function stillmutually, thus and together promote the occurrence of the pituitary adenomas and its growth, and promote tumor relapse. Pass to experiment we think the VEGF, the expression of the ki-67 protein has something to do with the occurrence of the pituitary adenomas and its biology behavior change, and can be the tumor invasivation and biology index sign for estimatation.
