Pituitary adenoma is one kind of common tumor in centralnervous system.Some kinds of tumor anatomy relationship iscomplicated .It is difficult to eradicate by operation.There is highrecurrence rate after operation.It is not sensitive to approach ofaccessory treatment used in clinic at present.The overexpression ofFAK,VEGF and MVD may be relationship with tumor angiogenesisand invasion.Provide a new target for pituitary adenoma therapy.【Objective】 The relationship between expression of focaladhesion kinase(FAK) and invasion of pituitary adenoma and theassociation of vascular endothelial growth actor(VEGF),microvesseldensity(MVD) with FAK and its mechanism and clinical significance.【Methods】 50 pituituitary adenoma specimens which dividedinto invasive group and noninvasive group were gotten from theneurosurgery department of the first hospital of Jilin university andwere all identified by pathology.2 normal pituitary specimensoriginated in autopsy.The immune histochemical method was used toquantitate FAK protein and VEGF,MVD. The expression of FAK andVEGF was determined by scale.【Results】 Brown particles were founded in the tumor cells ,the number of which in invasive group was higher than that ofnoninvasive group, due to stain of FAK and VEGF protein. In addition,the number of positive cells and stain increased apparently in the partof blood vessels hyperplasia at the edge of neoplasm necrosis. Thequantity of FAK in invasive pituitary adenomas (average 4.33) wasobviously greater than that in noninvasive pituitary adenomas(average 3.58) as well as that of VEGF(respectively 4.27,3.62). Thecoefficient correlation of FAK and VEGF was r1=0.395, P<0.05;thecoefficient correlation of FAK and MVD was r2=0.511, P<0.01. Theexpression of FAK protein was closely associated with VEGF andMVD.【Conclusions】 Since the invasion of pituitary adenoma wasclosely associated with FAK and VEGF and FAK, VEGF couldpromot the growth of blood vessels in tumor, FAK,VEGF and MVDcould be used as a biological mark which could tell the invasion andthe prognosis of pituitary of adenoma.
