The menstrual cycle in women is mainly balanced by the mechanism of the cerebral hypothalamus-pituitary gland-ovary-estrogen. The first sign of changing in menopausal stage is declination of ovary dysfunction and decreasing of estrogen secretion due to its aging, which would attenuate feedback toward pituitary gland, therefore hyperfunction of hypothalamus and pituitary gland and increasing secretion of gonadotropin would be presented. The endocrinal change influences the autonomic nervous system; promotes releasing hormones and neurotransmitters of hypothalamus; interferes cerebral cortex and influences each viscus under its control; which would lead to a serial of symptoms of autonomic nervous dysfunction. From the viewpoints of traditional Chinese Medicine, it is held that the menstrual cycle and genital system are closely related to the Qi within the Kidney meridian of foot Shao-Yin. In the Doctrine of Ancient Natural Truth of the Internal Canon of Medicine, ("Nai Jing, Shang Ku Tien Chen Lun"), it was written that the physiological functions of menstrual cycle and genital system are closely related to initiation and termination, wax and wane of the Hypothalamus-Hypophysis-ThyroidaI-Gonadal Axis (Tien-Gui). The Hypothalamus-Hypophysis-ThyroidaI-Gonadal Axis (Tien-Gui) are existed at male and female; with its initiation, the menstrual cycle comes at regular pattern, with its termination, the menstrual cycle would be exhausted. Professor ~uan-kai Lou pointed out that "Tien-Gui might be connected with genital-related endocrine, and he proposed the Kidney Qi-Tien Gui- Chong and Ren meridian (the flush vessel and conception vessel)-Uterus Axis, which is the core of the gynecological genital function and sexual climacteric regulation." The initiation and termination, wax and wane of the Hypothalamus-Hypophysis-ThyroidaI-Gonadal Axis (Tien-Gui) also have relations with the Kidney Meridian, Du Meridian (Governor Vessel), Ren Meridian (Conception Vessel), Chong Meridian(Flush Vessel), Dai Meridian (Belt Vessel). It is written in the Chinese Medicine classic that "The three meridians of Ren, Du, and Chong Meridians are started from the uterus, while the Dai Meridian starts from the Kidney Meridian of foot Shao-Yin". The uterus also has close tie with the Kidney Meridian, therefore Dr. Gui Ye mentioned that "the eight extra meridians have relations with liver and kidney. lf the vacuity of the Kidney Meridian of foot Shao-Yin happens, the eight extra meridians would also be void." The wax and wane of the eight extra meridians depends on the sufficiency of the Kidney Qi, therefore the Kidney Qi dominates the process of human growth, development, reproduction and aging, and affect the function of menstrual cycle and reproduction via the adjustment of Ren Meridian (Conception Vessel), Du Meridian (Governor Vessel),Chong Meridian(Flush Vessel), Dai Meridian (Belt Vessel). Our research selects the adding ingredients of a Chinese medical prescription" Kidney Reconversion Pellet" (Zhou Gui Wan). After the treatment of 36 studied cases, 2 cases are healed(5.56% among total cases), 28 cases have prominent effect(77.78% among total cases), 4 cases have effective result(11.11% among total cases), and 2 cases are ineffective (2.56% among total cases) . Total effective rate is 94.44ï¼….
