Objective:To detect the expression of Fas, Fasl in the normal ovary tissue, the benign ovary tissue, the borderline epithelial ovarian tumors andthe epithelial ovarian cancinomas, and study Fas, Fasl in epithelialovarian cancinomas expression and clinical pathology characteristic andpre- after relations.Method:10 samples of normal ovarian tissues, 30 samptes of benign epithelialovarian tumors, 32 samples of bordline epithelial ovarian tumors and 52samples of epithelial ovarian carcinomas were examined for the expressionof Fas and Fasl by S-P immunohistochemistry. And analysis was conductedof the two in the ovarian epithelial tumors pathogenesis function andthe reciprocity.Results:1. Expression of Fas in epithelial ovarian carcinoma is obviouslylower than the borderline ovarian tumors, the benign epithelial ovariantumors and the normal ovary tissues. The difference issignificant(P<0.05). But expression of Fas in normal ovarytissues, benign ovary tumors, borderline ovary tumors is non-statistically significant(P>0.05).2. Expression of Fas in epithelial ovarian carcinoma was stronglycorrelated with pathological grade and lymphnode metastasis, but it hadno correlation with FIGO stage and other clinicopathological parameters (age, histological type, ascites, tumor size, CA125).3. Expressionof Fasl in epithelial ovarian carcinomas is obviouslystronger than that in normal tissues and benign epithelial ovariantumors. The difference has statistical significance(P<0.05). Butexpression of Fasl in normal tissues, borderline and benign epithelialovarian tumors is non-statistically significant(P>0.05).4. Fasl expression in epithelial ovarian carcinoma was stronglycorrelated with FIG0 stage, pathological grade and lymphnodemetastasis. The difference is significant(P<0.05). Expression of Fasl hasno correlation with age, ascites, tumor size, histological type and CA125.5. In the survival analysis, Fas expression has no correlation withprognosis. But Fasl expression affect the patients' prognosis.Conclusions:1. Inepithelial ovarian carcinomas, the expression of Fasl obviouslyis stronger than that in normal ovary tissues and benign epithelialovarian tumors.2. High Fasl expressions perform infiltration and metastasis ofovarian tumors. It is a factor of poor prognosis.3. Fas was less expressed in epithelial ovarian carcinomas than thatin the normal ovary tissue, the benign ovary tumors and the borderlineepithelial ovarian tumors.4. Fas may be in coordination with Fasl in carcinogenesis, progression of epithelial ovarian tumors.5. Ovarian carcinomas cells may escape from immune surveillancethrough down-regulation of Fas expression and up-regulation of Faslexpression..
