Objective:To investigate the expression of OPN and P21WAF1/CIP1 and their relationship in epithelial ovarian neoplasm.Methods:Collect 95 epithelial ovarian neoplasm from 2008-1 to 2009-1 in Shanxi Cancer Hospital, expression of OPN and P21WAF1/CIP1 were detected by immunohistochemistry method in 15 normal ovarian tissues,20 benign tumors,20 borderline tumors and 40 ovarian cancers. And their relationship with the clinical pathology characteristics were analyzed.Result:The expression of OPN was higher in ovarian cancer than in ovarian borderline tumor and benign tumor, and the differences were significant(P<0.05). In 40 cases of epithelial ovarian carcinoma(25 serous carcinomas,15 mucinous carcinoma), the differences were significant that the positive expression of OPN and P21WAF1/CIP1 in the clinical stage, histological grade, lymde matastasis.The positive rate of OPN in stageⅢandⅣ(88.0%) of ovarian cancer was significantly higher than in stageⅠandⅡ(53.3%).The positive rate of OPN in histological stage G1,G2,G3 were 33.3%,80.0%,87.5%, and the differences in each group were significant(P<0.05). The positive expression of OPN was higher in lymde matastasis (100%) than in negative lymde matastasis (63.0%), and the difference was significant (P<0.05). while no relation with age,histology type. The expression of P21WAF1/CIP1 was lower in ovarian cancer than in ovarian borderline tumor and benign tumor (P<0.05). The positive rate of P21WAF1/CIP1 in stageⅢandⅣ(36.0%) of ovarian cancer was significantly lower than in stageⅠandⅡ(80.0%).The positive rate of P21WAF1/CIP1 in histological stage G1,G2,G3 were 83.3%,70.0%,37.5%, and the differences in each group were significant(P<0.05). The positive expression of P21WAF1/CIP1 was lower in lymde matastasis (23.1%) than in negative lymde matastasis (66.7%), and the difference was significant (P<0.05).while no relation with age,histology type。The expression of OPN was negtively correlated to the expression of P21WAF1/CIP1 (r=-0.423 p<0.05)Conclusion:1.OPN was over-expressed in ovarian cancer, its expression was closely related with clinical stage, histological grade, histotype, lymde matastasis, independent of age and histological stage, P21WAF1/CIP1was lower-expressed in ovarian cancer, its expression was closely related with clinical stage, histological grade, lymde matastasis, independent of age and histological stage,and both play important roles in the occurrence,development and metastasis of ovarian cancer. 2.The expression of OPN and P21WAF1/CIP1 in ovarian cancer have correlation,to detect the expression of OPN and P21WAF1/CIP1 unitly can predict biological behavior of oncobiology,and could provide a reference for the diagnosis of ovarian malignant tumor.
