Phyllanthus urinaria L., containing flavonoids, lignans, alkaloids, tanninsand other elements, is classified to Phyllanthus urinaria L. genera, Spurgesection. With anti-HBV activity, protective effect on injuried liver and little sideeffect, it has been a crude medicine worth of deeply development. In order toselect the protective-liver ingredients of Phyllanthus urinaria L., using a modelof normal L-02 hepaocytes injurid by CCl4, some extracts from differentmenstrum were used to the anti-injury experiment. Meanwhile, the extracts ofPhyllanthus urinaria L. were analysed by HPLC. The difference of mainingredients of 11 samples (including 1 Check) from different areas or provincesand that of the samples harvested at different period were also experimented byHPLC. The similarity of fingerprints of Phyllanthus urinaria L.from differentareas was compared, so as to gain a reliable evidence which might be used tocontroll the quality of Phyllanthus urinaria L..The main results were asfollows:1. Among the inhibition experiments, three extracts of Phyllanthus urinaria L.from 70% ethanol, 95% ethanol and water, were used to inhibit ALT and ASTactivities, and decrease the content of MDA, respectively. Its result was that,after the treatment of the extracts from 70% ethanol, the activities of ALT andAST both lowered significantly, and the content of MDA decreased as well. Itshowed that the extracts from 70% ethanol had a protecting-liver effect.However, the effect of the extracts from 95% ethanol was latter, and the lastwas from water.2. Compared with 5 solvents(Petroleum ether, Chloroform, Ethyl acetate,Butanol, Water),which were used to extract effective ingredients from theextracts by 70% ethanol in order to inhabit the activities of ALT and AST, andreduced the content of MDA. It showed that the extracts by Ethyl acetate couldsignificantly decrease the activities of ALT and AST, and lowered the content ofMDA, and increased cell viability, protected liver cell. The latter was fromPetroleum ether, Chloroform, Butanol, of which the effects were similar. Andthe last was from water, the effect wasn't significant. 3. Compared with the Check, the HPLC of Phyllanthus urinaria L. fromdifferent regions was more similar, but the contents of main ingredients weredifferent. The contents of main ingredients of Phyllanthus urinaria L. fromJiangxi was relatively lower, but that from Hainan was relatively higher, theothers were in the middle.4. The contents of main ingredients of Phyllanthus urinaria L. harvested atsame period were different to some extent. And the contents of main ingredientsof Phyllanthus urinaria L. from Guangdong harvested in August 2005 wererelatively lower. While that from Chenzhou in Hunan province harvested at thesame time were relatively higher.
