The incidence of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), a common disease, in modern medicineincreases with the age rise. Study and development on anti-fatigue drug with good curativeeffect and little side effect has huge applied foreground in our country's market. Cistanche isa kind of rare Chinese medicinal material which appeared most times in formula ofreinforcement prescriptions. It also has a laudatory title "Desert Ginseng". "Supplement tothe compendium of materia" and "Holy Relief" said Cistanche is a good herb to treatweakness. Modern pharmacological research also proves that it has strong effect onanti-fatigue disease. However, its effective components or effect-parts were not indeterminate.Therefore the aim of this study is to screen the anti-fatigue effect-part among A, B and C. Atthe same time we will carry preliminary research on the anti-fatigue mechanism of theeffect-part.Through the proof of many mice loading swimming tests, many tests on nonspecificimmunological function of normal and immunosuppressed mice and tests on general capacityof anti-oxidation in vitro, finally we make a conclusion that part B is the most relative andimportant anti-fatigue effect part of Cistanche deserticola. Then we carry the preliminaryresearch on anti-fatigue effect in vivo and intro. We examine the effects of drug on bloodlactic acid (LA), Urea, LDH, blood glucose (Glu), hepatic glucogen, GPT, GOT, CK,hemoglobin (Hb), SOD, GSH-pX and MDA in vivo. Meanwhile, we also investigate theeffect on free radical clearance in vitro. In vitro results indicated that effect-part B haspotential effect on cleaning free radicals and has a good dosage-dependent effect at the rangeof 0.03125~2mg/ml. At the same time, in vivo results suggested that effect-part Bcan decrease LD, LDH, CK in blood serum and MDA in liver, then it also canincrease blood glucose, hemoglobin in blood and SOD in liver.Conclusion: Cistanche deserticola has the effect of adjust energy mechanism by improvingthe ability of energy storage and lessening metabolites generation after exercise; it can protectbody from injury of excessive exercise by accelerating the clearance of free radical afterexercise.
