Objective: To investigate the effects of Elemene injection and Paclitexal on tumor angiogenesis in Lewis lung carcinoma mouse. Methods: Fifty C57BL/6 male mice injected lung cancer cell were divided five groups randomly A,B,C,D,E, every group 10 mice. Control group: A group NS ip (peritoneal injection), B group Paclitexal ip, C group Elemene injection low dose + Paclitexal ip, D group Elemene injection high dose +Paclitexal ip, E group Elemene injection high dose ip. After two weeks' treatment, the mice were sacrificed by taking blood from eyeball, and the tissue of xenografted tumor was taken and weighed. CD34 in xenografted tumor was detected and the expressions of microvessel density,vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) receptor 1 and 2 were evalued immunohistochemical image analysis. The level or concentration of serum VEGF was measured by ELSA. Results: About 46 mice were involved in the analysis of results. The microvessel density was significantly lower in treatment group than that in control group, [P<0.05]or[P<0.01] . The relative gray values in positive tissues of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 and 2, and the concentration of serum VEGF in treatment group were obviously lower than control group, [P<0.05] or [P<0.01]. Moreover, the microvessel density was signi- ficantly lower in group of Elemene injection high dose + Paclitexa than the other treatment group, [P<0.05] or [P<0.01] . The relative gray values in positive tissues of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 and 2 in Elemene injection high dose+Paclitexa group, and the density of serum VEGF group were also obviously lower than the other treatment group [P<0.05] or [P<0.01] . Conclusion: Elemene injection could antitumor angiogenesis and could promote the effect of Paclitexal on antitumor angiogenesis and tumonr growth.
