Expression And Clinical Significance Of Survivin And BAG-1 In Carcinoma Of Stomach And Its Precancerous Lesions

Objective To study the expression of Survivin and BAG-1 in different gastric mucosal lesions,and the relationship between Survivin and BAG-1 expression in gastric cancerous tissues and the clinicopathologic parameters of carcinoma of stomach,and clarify the mechanism and clinical significance of Survivin and BAG-1 in the development of carcinoma of stomach.Methods Immunohistochemical was used to detect the expression of Survivin and BAG-1 protein levels in specimens of chronic non-atrophic gastritis, gastric precancerous lesions and carcinoma of stomach.Then analyze the relationship between Survivin and BAG-1 expression in gastric cancerous tissues and precancerous lesions,and the clinicopathologic parameters of carcinoma of stomach.Result In the specimens of chronic non-atrophic gastritis,gastric precancerous lesions and carcinoma of stomach,the expression rates of Survivin and BAG-1 protein were 3.33%,30.00%,71.67%and 10.00%,26.67%,63.33% respectively.Statistical significance could be found among the three group (P＜0.05).The expression rate of Survivin protein in gastric cancerous tissue were significantly higher in patients with serosal invasion,the poorly differentiated and undifferentiated,regional lymph node metastasis and TNM-stageⅢ+Ⅳthan those without serosal invasion,the moderately and well differentiated,absence of lymph node metastasis and TNM-stageⅠ+Ⅱones.While the expression rate of BAG-1 protein in gastric cancerous tissue were significantly higher in patients with serosal invasion,diameter≥3cm,regional lymph node metastasis and TNM-stageⅢ+Ⅳthan those without serosal invasion,diameter＜3cm,absence of lymph node metastasis and TNM-stageⅠ+Ⅱones(P＜0.05).In addition,the levers of expression for Survivin and BAG-1 are positively correlated(P＜0.05,r=0.366).Conclusions Survivin and BAG-1 is over-expressed in carcinoma of stomach,and correlates with infiltration depth regional lymph node metastasis and TNM staging of gastric cancer.Survivin may play important roles in the transformation from normal mucosa to precancerous lesions and eventually to carcinoma of stomach while BAG-1 may play critical roles in the tumour grouth and infiltration and transfer process after cancerogenesis.Survivin and BAG-1 are independent prognostic indicators for patientwith carcinoma of stomach.
