Objective Acute coronanry syndrome(ACS) is a group of serious cardiovascular diseases, including unstable angina(UA),non-ST segment elevation myocardial infartion(NSTEMI) and ST-segment elevation myocardial infartion(STEMI).The aim of this paper is to investigate the changes of serum levels of lipoprotein(a) and bilirubin in patients with acute coronary syndrome and their relationship with extent of coronary stenosis. Methods 62 patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS),including 23 patients with acute myocardial infarction(AMI)and 39 patients with unstable angina pectoris(UAP),and 27 patients with stable angina pectoris (SAP)were studied, and 25 coronary angiography negative subjects were taken as controls. The serum levels of lipoprotein(a) and bilirubin were measured respectively. Results The mean concentration of Lp(a) was 315.30±123.51 mg/L,299.72±104.15 mg/L,268.74±194.68 mg/L,163.96±99.69 mg/L in Group AMI,Group UAP,Group SAP,and control group respectively. The Lp(a) levels was significantly higher in Group ACS and Group SAP as compared to the controls(P<0.05).The serum level of lipoprotein(a) in ACS group was significantly higher than that in SAP group(P<0.05). The mean concentration of total bilirubin was 11.87±3.07μmol/L,11.98±3.04μmol/L,13.93±3.88μmol/L,16.22±4.60μmol/L in Group AMI,Group UAP,Group SAP,and control group respectively ; The mean concentration of indirect bilirubin was 7.19±2.38μmol/L,7.51±2.52μmol/L,9.36±3.31μmol/L,10.89±3.84μmol/L,and the mean concentration of direct bilirubin was 4.68±1.91μmol/L,4.46±1.42μmol/L,4.57±1.69μmol/L,5.33±2.00μmol/L in Group AMI,Group UAP,Group SAP,and control group respectively. The serum level of total bilirubin and indirect bilirubin in ACS group was significantly lower than that in SAP group(P<0.05),but there was no obvious difference in direct bilirubin among different groups(P>0.05); The serum level of lipoprotein(a) in multiple-vessel diseases was significantly higher than that in single-vessel disease(P<0.05),but there was no difference in total bilirubin, indirect bilirubin and direct bilirubin among different numbers of coronary stenosis...
