Objective:To investigate the role of CXCR5 in the disease of MG.Methods:We studied the frequency of CXCR5-positive lymphocytes in the peripheral blood of 36 MG patients and 23 healthy donors.MG group was subdivided into subgroups according to their clinical absolute scores. Results:Before therapy, the MG patients showed a significantly higher frequency of CXCR5+ CD4+ T cells in the peripheral blood compared with the control group(t=5.33,P<0.01),while the CXCR5+ CD4+ T cell frequency of MG patients with Osserman typeⅡwas significantly higher than that of those with Osserman typeⅠand the CXCR5+ CD4+ T cell frequency of MG patients with Osserman typeⅣwas significantly higher than that of those with Osserman typeⅡ(P<0.01).The CXCR5+ CD4+ T cell frequency of MG patients with abnormal thymus was significantly higher than that of those with normal one(P<0.05)A significant correlation was observed between the percentage of CXCR5+ CD4+ T cells and the disease severity(rs=0.764,P<0.01). No significant difference in the percentages of CXCR5+ CD4+ T cells was observed between the patients with AchRab and those without AchRab(P>0.05), and was observed between the patients with PsmRab and those without PsmRab (P>0.05)Conclutions:(1)Our results suggest that CXCR5 play an important role in the disease activity of MG and Hyperexpression of CXCR5 is correlated with the clinical progression of MG.(2)There was some differences between the pathologies of MG with normal thymus and that of MG with abnormal one. (3)Contrlling the expression of CXCR5 may interrupt the immune process of MG patients.
