Objective: To study of the expression and its clinical significance of c-erbB-2, nm23 in breast cancer. Method: The expressions of c-erbB-2, nm23 were detected by SP immunohistochemical staining method from 497 cases of breast cancer. Results: (1)The positive rate of c-erbB-2, nm23 was 52.7%,67.2%,respectively. (2)Positive expressions of c-erbB-2 protein in breast cancer tissues were positive relationships with age, axillary lymph metastasis and clinical stage(p<0.05), but not with axillary pathology feature, not tumor size(p>0.05).Positive expressions of nm23 protein in breast cancer tissues were positive with axillary lymph metastasis, tumor size, clinical stage, but not with axillary pathology feature and age(p>0.05) .(3)c-erbB-2 was negatively related with nm23(p>0.05). Conclusion: (1) The expression of c-erbB-2, nm23 were related to progression, invasiveness and metastasis with breast cancer. (2)Detection of c-erbB-2, nm23, these would be better to evaluate malignancy and metastasis especially in axillary node negative breast cancer, and would be helpful in screening the high risk cases for further treatment. (3)The expression of c-erbB-2 are important markes to estimate the biology action and prognosis of breast cancer.
