| Objective Immunohistochemistry was used to test theexpressions of PPAR-γ, COX-2 in the lesions from patients withcondyloma acuminatum and bowenoid papulosis. The possible roles ofPPAR-γ, COX-2 in the pathogenesis of proliferative dermatosisassociated with human papilloma virus were analyzed. Methods Expressions of PPAR-γ, COX-2 in 17 cases ofcondyloma acuminatum, 17 cases of bowenoid papulosis, as well as 17cases of normal foreskin lesions were measured byimmunohistochemistry. The relationship between the expressions ofPPAR-γ, COX-2 and the clinical pathology was analyzed. The statisticalanalysis was done by least significant difference, chi-square test andPearson correlation, the results had difference if P<0.05.Results 1. The immunohistochemical study showed thatPPAR-γwas overexepressed not only in condyloma acuminatum(52.9%)but also in bowenoid papulosis(58.8%), while weakly expressed innormal foreskin (17.6%)(P<0.05); 2. The immunohistochemical study showed that COX-2 wasoverexepressed not only in condyloma acuminatum (70.6%)but also inbowenoid papulosis(64.7%), while weakly expressed in normalforeskin(5.9%)(P<0.01).3. The expressions of PPAR-γand COX-2 were significantlyrelated in condyloma acuminatum(r=0.505, P=0.038) and in bowenoidpapulosis(r=0.562, P=0.019).Conclusion 1. The expressions of PPAR-γ,COX-2 werehigher in condyloma acuminatum lesions and in bowenoid papulosislesions than that in normal foreskin lesions.2. The expressions of PPAR-γand COX-2 were significantlyrelated in condyloma acuminatum and in bowenoid papulosis.3. The PPAR-γand COX-2 may have important roles in theprocess and development of proliferative dermatosis associated withhuman papilloma virus. |
