With the social rhythm accelerated continuously, the competition becomes fierce. People are busy with their works and studies, so their physical strength and energy were seriously overdrawed which make the fatigue appear easily. If fatigue occurs and is not eliminated in time, it will accumulate gradually. Finally it makes the body endocrine disturbance appear, the immunity decresasing, even organic disease appearing. All of these become the important factors that are threatening the physical and mental health of human. The health care products could eliminate fatigue and recover physical capacity effectively, which could enhance the body's immune functions and supply multivitamins, et al. The present study is to observe the anti-fatigue effects of fermented milk on mice by in vivo animal experiment. Methods: Totally 150 ICR mice (sanitary degree) were selected in this study. Experimental mice were divided into 3 batches and each batche was randomly divided into 5 small groups by weight. They were control group, milk group (20 g/ kg·bw), three dose groups fermented milk of Zanglinggu, 5 g/kg·bw, 10 g/kg·bw and 20 g /kg·bw respectively. There were 10 mice in every group, half male half female. During the experimental period, the three tested group mice were administered corresponding doses of fermented milk once per day for 30 consecutive days. The mice in normal control group were administered with equivalent solvent. All the mice were weighed each two days. Quantities of tested matter were changed according to their body weights, and the mice had free access to food and drink. After all mice were administered for 30 days, antifatigue indexes were determined. The loading swimming were tested in the first batch mice to observe the exhausted time; then they were killed to get the organs and calculate the index between the organ and corresponding weight. The second batch mice participated in a swimming program for 90 minutes, and their blood samples from eyeballs were collected to detect BUN content and the activity of LDH. The activity of SOD, SDH, GSH-Px, lipase and the content of MDA in their livers were determined. High blood lactic acid model was established to determine the contents of blood lacticacid (BLA) before the last batches of mice swam in the water for 60 minutes. After swimming and resting for 20 minutes, their lives and the muscle of hind leg were taken out, and the contents of hepatic glycogen and muscle glycogen were determined. The data were expressed as mean±standard deviation ( x±s) and analyzed by SPSS12.0 stastistical software. The diferences between groups were analyzed with ANOVA or T test methods. Results: Compared with the control group, the increasment of body weight reduced significantly in the high dose group and there was significant difference (P<0.05). There was no obvious difference in organ and body ratio between control group and treatment groups.Compared with control group, the weight loading swimming times in all the dose groups mice were prolonged and all had significantly differences (P<0.05). After swimming, the increasment content of LA in all the groups were lower than the control group. After 20 min resting, the decreased amplitude of BLA content in all the dose groups were greater than those in the control group and there was significant difference in the amplitude of BLA content between the control group and high dose group. The contents of hepatic glycogen and muscle glycogen in all the groups of Zanglinggu fermented milk were higher than those in the control group. There was significant difference in the content of hepatic glycogen between the control group and high dose group (P<0.05). The contents of BUN and MDA in both the middle and the high dose were obviously lower than that in the control. Compared with control group, the two groups decreased significantly (P<0.05).The activities of LDH, SOD and SDH in all the fermented milk were higher than those in the control group. Compared with control group, the SOD activities in all dose groups, the SDH in high dose group and the LDH in the middle and high dose group increased significantly. Conclusions: The Zanglinggu fermented milk could obviously prolong the exhausted swimming time, increase the content of hepatic glycogen, improve the activities of serum LDH, SOD and SDH in liver; and decrease BLA and serum BUN and liver MDA contents. The present study showed that the Zanglinggu fermented milk has antifatigue effects and the high dose showed the best effect. The mechanisms of Zanglinggu fermented milk antifatigue effects need to be explored further.
