As a part of our phytochemical investigation on Chinese folk medicines to search for novel antive ingredients, this thesis elaborated the studies on the chemical constituents of two plants Cimicifuga foetida L. and Polygonatum kingianum Coll.et Hemsl.. In all, 36 compounds were obtained through repeated column chromatography over silica gel column, Sephadex LH-20, MCI-gel CHP-20P, reverse phase column (RP-8 and RP-18) and D101. Those compounds coverd triterpenoids and their glycosides, iridoids and their glycosides, flavones and their glycosides, alkaloid, C21-steroides, aromatic compounds and sugar. Finally, investigation the chemical constituents and pharmacological advances of Cimicifuga were summarized in the lasted 15 years.Chapter 1 The Chemical Constituents of Cimicifuga foetida L.At present Cimicifuga is one of the hot fields in the world. The cycloartane triterpenoids were the special constituents of Cimicifuga. To look for new active constituents , we have studied the chemical constituents of Cimicifuga foetida L. from the Lijiang, Yunnan province. As a result, 23 compounds had been isolated and identified from this plant, Compounds 7, 8, 9, 10 were isolated from Cimicifuga for the first time. The compounds were identified as follows, and their structures are illustrated in Fig. A.1. Cimidahurine2. Cimidahurinine3. Cimifugin4. Norcimifugin 5. Cimifugin glucoside6. Norcimifugin glucoside7. As a result, 15 compounds had been isolated and identified from this plant, Compounds 6, 8, 9 were isolated from this plant for the first time. The compounds were identified as follows, and their structures are illustrated in Fig. B.1. 3-butyloxymethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-8-indolizinone2. liquiritigenin3. isoliquiritigenin4. 4′,7-dihydroxy-3′-methoxyisoflavone5.
