Objective: To have a overview of the occupational stress status in mental workers in Urumqi, using JSS questionnaire, and analyze its relationship with immune function. Finally, to reveal the role of neurotransmitters in the occurrence of mental workers'occupational stress is also within the expectation in this study. Methods: Questionnaires on occupational stress were surveyed among 1100 mental workers, using randomized stratification sampling, of which 110 subjects were extracted randomly to test blood glucose, blood fat, plasma interleukin-2(IL-2),plasma interleukin-6(IL-6), noradrenalin (NE) ? serotonin (5-HT),substance P(SP) and neuropeptide Y (NPY) Results: 1 The result of comparison between work tension index, job pressure index of male workers and those of female workers showed statistical significance, that female had heavier work tension and job pressure than male;It had no statistically significant difference in occupational stress when comparison made among different peoples and marital statuses; Comparing between over-20-year service groups, 10-to-20-year service group and less-than-10-year service group demonstrated significant increase in work tension index, lacking of organizational support index and job pressure index when stratified using different lengths of service among mental workers. Mental workers with senior professional title had remarkably higher work tension index and job pressure index than mental workers with junior professional title. Analysis show that there are higher work tension index , lacking of organizational Support index and job pressure index in science, technology personnel than that in civil servant, and the differences are statistically significant. Significant differences were found when comparing indexes between different earning groups, over-1500 yuan earning group surpassed under-1500 yuan earning group in every index. 2 Blood glucose, triglyceride and cholesterol were compared among 3 groups of people with different occupational stresses, result showed significant differences. Differences of high density lipoprotein and low density lipoprotein among the three groups had no statistical significance. Partial correlation analysis showed that blood glucose was positive correlated with occupational stress. 3 Comparison of IL-2, IL-6, 5-HT, NE, NPY and SP among groups with different occupational stresses showed statistics significance. SNK-q test discovered that, IL-2 and SP between moderate and low occupational stress group differentiates with statistical significance. IL-6, 5-HT and NE discriminates statistically low and high occupational stress group. NPY distinguishes moderate and low occupational stress group as well as low and high occupational stress group statistically. Partial correlation analysis showed that occupational stress and job pressure were negatively correlated with IL-2 and NPY, but positively correlated with IL-6 and NE. Lacking of organizational support was negatively correlated with IL-2 and NPY. 4 Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the major factors, which have great effect on occupational stress in mental workers, are lengths of service, earning, job pressure and lacking of organizational support. Conclusion: Gender, professional title, lengths of service, earning and job have effects on occupational stress in mental workers. It turned out that in this study, increased blood glucose level and changed blood lipid level were related to occupational stress in mental workers. blood glucose, IL-2, IL-6, 5-HT, NE, NPY and SP differentiates among classes of intensity of occupational stress in mental workers, all with statistics significance (P<0.05).The association analysis showed that occupational stress were correlated with blood sugar, IL-2, IL-6, NE and NPY . Lengths of service, earning, lack of organizational Support and job pressure were main factors that influenced mental workers'occupational stress.
