Objective: Through small bowel transplantation experiments, to create a segmental heterotopic small bowel transplantation model in rats which is more stable and practical, have less complications and higher survival rate and can be easily operated on the basis of traditional small bowel transplantation model. Method: All rats fast before operation, receive energy, get persisting fluid transfusion through vein on tail to keep stable blood pressure during operation; Be gentle during operation to reduce mechanical or ischemic injury on donor intestine so as to improve quality of donor intestine. take a section of the proximal jejunum with superior mesenteric artery and port vein under microscope. Perform in situ cold perfusion and intestinal cavity lavage, Preserved in 4centidegree lactated Ringer's solution. Artery anastomosis adopts end-to-side anastomosis between superior mesenteric artery of donor and abdominal aortic of receptor. Vein anastomosis adopts end-to-side anastomosis between port vein of donor and IVC of receptor. make ostomy on the right abdomen with two ends of the donor intestine. Results: In 10 pre-experiments, 72-hour survival rates 40% after opertation. In 40 formal experiments, 72-hour survival rates 75% after opertation. The main reasons for failure are shown in the followings:formation of anastomotic thrombosis, low volume shock due to bleeding in operation . bleeding in anastomotic after operation .The average time of all surgerical operation is 160±12min minuetes. The average time of operation on donor is 70 minutes. The average time of operation on receptor is 90 minutes. Conlusions: Establishment of Segmental heterotopic small bowel transplantation model in rats under the microscope sets a good animal model for the basic research of intestinal transplantation. The acquisition of intestine for transplantation, skills for vascular anastomosis and some perioperative management such as blood transfusion, fluid transfusion, heat preservation and so on play key roles in improving the success rate of operation.
