Objective: In human eye, the aqueous humor plays a very important physiological effect. It provides a hydrostatic pressure that maintains a relatively stable intraocular pressure. The aqueous humor is produced by the epithelial cells of the ciliary processes; the normality of ciliary processes morphology directly affects the secretion of the aqueous, thereby affects the stability of the intraocular structure and function. This study investigates the morphology of the ciliary processes to provide a theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of the related eye disorders.Methods: 42 eyeballs obtained from Chinese healthy adult males who died by accident. Among them.some less than 51 years classify the low age group, other converge to the high age group. Shape and position of the ciliary process were observed under surgical microscope, Simultaneously to statistically analyze length, width and categorization of the ciliary process.Results: The average number of ciliary processes was 71.86. 63.09 of them represents the main ciliary processes while 8.52 of them represents The auxiliary ciliary process. The average length of the ciliary process was 2.01 mm, while the average width was 0.99 mm. The ciliary process size of the high age group was found to be significantly larger than that of the low age group.Conclusion: Along with age the growth, the length and width of ciliary process have increase, the position take place to antedisplacement and antewhirl. These are possible to participate in the pathogenesis of angle-closure glaucoma. It need 23 ciliary process at least to maintains normal nutrition and metabolism of ocular. The incision of glaucoma filtering surgery exposes three ciliary process as to be suitable. The scope of monocular cyclophotocoagulation shouldn't be less than three quadrant.
