Objective: To investigate the functional significance and relationship of p16,CDK4 and cyclinD1in the breast cancer. Methods: Immunohistochemical S-P method was used to detect the expression of p16,CDK4 and cyclinD1 in human breast cancer. Results: The positive of p16, CDK4 and cyclinD1 were mostly located in nucleus with rates of Idegree53.1%,IIdegree56.3% and IIIdegree68.8% respectively. The expression level of p16 , CDK4 and cyclinD1 protein correlated with histological grade ( P < 0. 05) . The expression level of cyclinD1 protein correlated with ER,PR status. There was no significant difference for patients age ,size of tumor and lymph node metastases, and there was no correlation between p16 and CDK4 or cyclinD1.Conclusions:The underexpression of p16 and the overexpression of CDK4 and cyclinD1 may play a significant role in the incidence and development of breast cancer. The expression level of p16 , CDK4 and cyclinD1 protein correlated with histological grade, and the expression of cyclinD1 is correlated with ER status, so combination of these factors will be more helpful for treating breast cancer.
