Objective To investigate the mRNA expression of KCNMA1 and KCNMB1 in human myometrium, and to study the correlations between KCNMA1 and KCNMB1 at the onset of labor. Methods 20 cases in labor (L group); 20 cases not in labor (NL group) but in term pregnancy, and 20 cases of non-pregnant (NP group) women undergoing hysterectomy due to cervical intraepithelial neoplasia were recruited into thia clinical study. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction was employed to measure the expressions levels of KCNMA1 mRNA and KCNMB1 mRNA.Results1.The expression of KCNMA1mRNA in L group[(2.42±0.25)×10-3] was significantly lower than that in NL group[(5.81±0.39)×10-3], P=0.00,P<0.01,which was significantly higher than that in NP group[(2.41±0.20)×10-3], P =0.00, P<0.01. There was no significant difference between L group and NP group, P =0.97, P>0.05.2.The expression of KCNMB1 mRNA in L group was[(1.99±0.18)×10-3] was significantly lower than that in NL group[(10.62±0.47)×10-3] , P =0.00, P<0.01, which was significantly lower than that in NP [(18.15±0.24)×10-3],P=0.00, P<0.01.Conclusions The expression of KCNMA1 and KCNMB1 mRNA in the uterine smooth muscle may play an important role in the onset of labor.
