The Therapy Of High Does Dexamethasone In Patients With Chronic Idiopathic Thrombo-Cytopenic Purpura

Objective To study the efficacy and safety of high dose dexametha- sone in patients with chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.Method Out of forty nine diagnosed patients with chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura,21 patients received high dose dexamethasone at single daily doses of 40 mg for 4 consecutive days.28 patients received low does dexamethasone at daily does of 10-15 mg for 4 days.Results After a follow-up period of 3 months fourteen patients (73.7%) in HD-DEX treatment group and thirteen patients (54.2%) in low does dexamethasone treatment group achieved response respectively (P>0.05).However, the high dose dexamethasone treatment group showed more significant superiority in the time(6.75±2.447 day) of patients'PLT achieved peak value than control group (9.95±5.967) (P<0.05)Conclusion The therapy of high dose dexamethasone can promote the patients'PLT into a safe value within a short time. It seems to be effective and safe in diagnosed patients with ITP.
