Objective: To investigate the expression of HIF-1αin human primary hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and its relationship with the tumor pathological characteristics. Methods: Fresh tumor and normal liver tissues were obtained from 22 hepatocellular carcinoma patients after hepatectomy Expression levels of HIF-1αmRNA were quantitatively analyzed by real-time PCR. The protein level were analyzed by immunohistochemistry .Results: HIF-1αwas expressed in most hepatocellular carcinoma tissues, including sixteen cases .And low expression in normal liver tissues only two cases。The relative of HIF-1αexpression level in hepatocellular carcinoma liver tissues was higher than that in nomal tissues(P<0.05.The patient who has complete tumor capsule, venous invision, low differentiation express more HIF-1αmRNA .The expression of HIF-1αmRNA has no relationship with gender, age, cirrhosis nodus, tumor size, tumor number,AFP,carcinoma embolus,HBsAg .(p>0.05)Conclusion: Both the normal liver tissue and HCC tissue express HIF-1α, and it is probably affected by litlle oxcygen .It has relatoionship with tumor capsule, venous invision, differentiation。The expression of HIF-1αmRNA has no relationship with gender, age, cirrhosis nodus,AFP,tumor size, tumor number,HBsAg .
