Purpose:To assess the efficacy of dual channel bio-stimulative feedback system in enhancing lower extremity motor and fuctional recovery of cerebral palsy children.Material and Method:Twenty subjects with cerebral palsy were randomly assigned to either the EMG-stim(n=10) and control(n=10) group. All the subjects are diagnosed as cerebral palsy clearly.and the age is between 36 and 75 months old. They have different degrees of lower extremity obstacles. Both groups are given tradional rehabilitation training.in addition, the experimental group are given EMG triggered neuromuscular stimulation and EMG biofeedback.once a day.Surface EMG value on anterior tibial muscle and ROM of ankle extention and lower extremity strength are measured pretreatment and post-treatment respectively.and the total course are one month. Results:subject treated with EMG triggered neuromuscular stimulation and EMG biofeedback exhibited significantly greater gains in measured items compared with the control group(p<0.05).And both groups have obviously improvement after a course of treatment(p<0.05).But there are not significant differences between two groups in the improvement of lower extremity strength. Conclusion:These findings indicate that bio-stimulative feedback system, combined EMG triggered neuromuscular stimulation with EMG biofeedback,is a better therapy in rehabilitating paralytic lower extremities of the cerebral palsy children.
