Objective: To study the anticancer effect and survival time of selenium ,beer and the combination of selenium and beer in mice with tumor. Methods: the mice were fed with selenium, beer and the combination of selenium and beer ,we decided antitumor effect by determining the inhibitory rate, survival time, serum malondialdehyde(MDA) and liver lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) and superoxide dismutase(SOD).Results: The inhibitory rates in Se group ,beer group and the combination of selenium and beer group were significantly higher than those of the positive control group(P<0.05). The survival time in group Se, beer and the combination of selenium and beer was longer than that of the positive control group (P<0.01). The activities of liver SOD in group Se, beer and the combination of selenium and beer were significantly elevated, but serum MDA and liver LDH decreased, and than lower those of the positive control group(P<0.05).Conclusion: Selenium beer and the combination of selenium and beer shows good effect on antitumor and antioxidation, extending survival time.
