| Objective To evaluate the short-time clinical effect and to investigate the clinical significance of transarterial chemoembolization therapy for cervical carcinoma.Materials and Methods 36 patients diagnosed as cervical carcinoma were decided not suitable for surgery by gynecologists, including 28 cases squamous cell carcinoma, 6cases adenocarcinoma, 2 case adeno-squamous carcinoma. According to International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics(FIGO): 29 cases were stage IIb, 7 cases were stage III. Transarterial chemotherapy and embolisem through both sides of anterior trunk of internal iliac artery or uterine artery was performed. Chemotherapeutics selection was based on the pathology, and embolism was gelatin sponge. Review was done after 2-3 weeks and whether chemoembolization once more or surgery was decided by gynecologists. Results All patients had no vagina bleeding after interventional procedure, clinical symptom remission rate was 100%. All neoplasia diminished after transarterial chemoembolization. The immediate effective rate was 83.3%.30 cases successfully undergo radical hysterectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy, and bleeding was diminished. Conclusion Transcatheter chemotherapy and embolism can improve the short-time clinical symptom and survival quality, and to raise the successful operation rate and reduce the complications. It provides an safe and effective treatment for uterine cervical carcinoma. Objective To investigate the expression of CD44v6 in survival cervical cancer tissues after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization.Material and Methods Fourty three cases of cervical cancer specimens verified by histopathology were studied, which included 22 cases treated with surgical resection alone(the simple operation group),and 21 cases undergoing 1-2 times transcatheter arterial chemoembolization therapy prior to surgical resection 2-3 weeks(the transcatheter arterial chemoembolization group).there was no significant difference in clinical features between the two groups.CD44v6 in tumor tissues were measured repectively after pathological specimens dealed. Cross-check analysis was done according to the stain degree on the cellular membrane. Results CD44v6 in both groups were all expressed on the cellular membrane of cervix epithelial tissue and tumor cell. The stain degree gradually increase from surface to fundament in epithelial tissue. In according with the stain degree, the number of cases recorded with 1,2,3 was 6 cases, 9 cases and 3 cases in the simple operation group, and 2 cases , 6 cases and 11 cases in the transcatheter arterial chemoembolization group. There was significant difference between two groups(p<0.05). Conclusion CD44v6 expression is an important indicator of metastasis and prognosis of cervical carcinoma. CD44v6 expression was highly after 2 weeks for transarterial chemoembolization therapy. The study indicates that transarterial chemoembolization therapy for cervical carcinoma maybe increase the tendency of tumor cell propagation and metastasis. Shorten the time between the transarterial chemoembolization therapy and surgery maybe helpful for the effect. |
