Objective:To compare the distributive characteristics of impaired glucose metabolism subcategories and its influencing factors between Korean and Han nationality of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture area.Methods:①Using a simple random sampling method,3,156 permanent residents aged more than 30 years and selected in the Antu County of Yanbian were carried out an investigation from August 2005 to August 2006.All of subjects was selected after eliminating the cases sul(?)ered from serious organic diseases and knew the informed consent.②Using the home visit and health examination, the relevant information for this study were collected in the selected communities and health centers.③The investigators were trained, and it was standardized that the survey contents, operational procedures and methods, and the home visit and inquiries were performed in accordance with unified questionnaire (including the general information.smoking.drinking.past history and family history of cardiovascular diseases.etc.).④It was measured that the height, weight, waist circumference and blood pressure,etc.⑤The fasting vein blood(fasting for 12 h)was taken in early morning, and it was measured that the serum total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride (TG).high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C).blood glucose. All biochemical indexes were measured by automatic biochemical analyzer.⑥The measurement data were examined by ANOVA test;the numeration data were compared with the Chi square and u test;the hypertension and its subtypes influencing factors were analyzed by the multi-regression analysis;hypertension and its subtypes as the dependent variable and nationality, age, sex, hyperglycemia.HDL-C.high total cholesterol, high triglyceride.high TC and TG.overall obesity and abdominal obesity as independent variable were analyzed by the Logistic regression analysis;the variables were selected by BACKWARD,selected variables were significant level asα=0.05 and deleted variables were significant level asα=0.10.Results:Out of 3,156 cases,1,357 cases(43.0%) were Korean nationality(566 of male and 791 of female),and 1,799 cases(57.0%) were Han nationality(653 of male and 1,146 of female).①For male, the average level(mmol/L) of fasting blood glucose(FBG) 5.48 in Korean nationality, and that was 5.31 in Han nationality, respectively;for female, that was 5.31 in Korean and 5.36 in Han,respectively, and there were not significant ethnic differences.②In this study population, the crude rate of impaired fasting glucose(IFG1, FBG≥5.6~6.0 mmol/L) was 10.8%in Korean men,13.5%in Han men,10.0%in Korean women and 11.0%in Han women, respectively and the age-adjusted prevalence of IFG1 was 12.4%in Korean men,13.2%in Han men,9.0%in Korean women and 11.4%in Han women, respectively. The age-adjusted prevalence of IFG1 in Han nationality was significantly higher than that in Korean nationality in both sexes(P<0.01).The crude rate of impaired fasting glucose(IFG2,FBG≥6.1~6.9 mmol/L) was 9.4%in Korean men,8.6%in Han men,8.0%in Korean women and 5.9%in Han women, respectively and the age-adjusted prevalence of IFG2 was 8.7%in Korean men,7.9%in Han men,6.8%in Korean women and 5.9%in Han women, respectively. The age-adjusted prevalence of IFG2 in Korean nationality was significantly higher than that in Han nationality in both sexes (P<0.01).The crude rate of diabetes mellitus(DM,FBG≥7.0 mmol/L) was 12.7%in Korean men,6.6%in Han men,9.4%in Korean women and 7.0%in Han women, respectively and the age-adjusted prevalence of DM was 11.1%in Korean men,4.8%in Han men,6.5%in Korean women and 6.5%in Han women, respectively. The crude and the age-adjusted prevalence of DM in Korean men were significantly higher than those in Han men(P<0.01).The prevalence of impaired glucose metabolism subcategories increased along with the increase of age(P<0.05).③The proportion of IFG1,IFG2 and DM were 34.8%,28.9%and 36.3%among Korean impaired glucose metabolism population, and that were 46.4%,26.9%and 26.7%among Han population, and DM was more frequent in Korean, and IFG1 was more frequent in Han.The ages in proportion of IFG1,IFG2 and DM were significant differences between Korean and Han nationality.④In comparison with normal blood glucose(NBG) subgroup.the impaired glucose metabolism subcategories group had higher mean level of age.BMI.WC.WHR,WHtR.SBP.TC.TG and HDL-C in this study population(P<0.05).And compared with NBG,the impaired glucose metabolism subcategories group had higher prevalence of overall obesity, abdominal obesity,ISH(in Han nationality),SDH.hypertension, high TG,high TC combined high TG(P<0.05).⑤The results of multifactor analysis showed that IFG1 is closely related with age, sex, abdominal obesity.HDL-C.high TG.high TC combined high TG and ISH:IFG is closely related with nationality(Korean),age, abdominal obesity and hyperglycemia;DM is closely related with nationality(Korean),sex.age and abdominal obesity, high TG,high TC combined high TG.Conclusion:①The prevalence of impaired glucose metabolism subcategories in the general population is relatively high in Yanbian area.and the prevalence of impaired glucose metabolism subcategories increased along with the increase of age:②The distributive characteristics of impaired glucose metabolism subcategories between Korean nationality and Han nationality were significant difference.DM was more frequent in Korean, and IFG1 was more frequent in Han.and the ages in protion of IFG1,IFG2 and DM were significant differences between Korean and Han nationality.③In comparison with normal blood glucose(NBG) subgroup, the impaired glucose metabolism subcategories group had higher mean level of age.BMI,WC,WHR.WHtR,SBP,TC,TG and HDL-C in this study population. And compared with NBG.the impaired glucose metabolism subcategories group had higher prevalence of overall obesity.abdominal obesity.ISH(in Han nationality).SDH, hypertension, high TG.high TC combined high TG.④Impaired glucose metabolism subcategories is closely related with nationality(Korean).sex(male).age(more older). abdominal obesity.HDL-C(more lower),high TG,high TC combined high TG and ISH,and the distribution of these influencing factors in subcategories of impaired glucose metabolism were significant difference.
