Objective:1. To study the expression and significance of ezrin in high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia(HGPIN)and prostate cancer(CaP).2. Through comparing the expression of ezrin in different grade prostate cancer, to explore the ezrin biologic characters and the role of it in tumor.Methods:1. The expression of ezrin was assayed by means of immunohistochemical technique in 44 CaP,12 HGPIN,20 benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) and 10 normal prostate tissue(NP) specimens.2. The immunoreactivity was graded as +++ when strongly positive, ++ when moderately positive, + when weakly positive, and - when negative. The results were reviewed independently by two pathologists and computer.3. Statistical Analysis.Results:1. Ezrin expression was moderate or strong in 31(70.45%) CaP and all of 12 HGPIN were moderate or weakly while negative or weakly in BPH and NP.2. Ezrin expression were higher in the CaP with Gleason score(GS)8-10 than those CaP with GS7 and GS5-6(P<0.05), ezrin expression of CaP with GS7 were higher than those CaP with GS5-6(P<0.05) ,while no difference was found between GS7(4+3) and GS7(3+4) cancers(P=0.827) . Conclusion:1. The expression of ezrin may be involved in the pathogenesis of CaP, and ezrin expression may be useful for the HGPIN diagnosis and the patients'prognostic estimatation.2. The degree of ezrin expression correlations between tumor infiltration and metastasis, It may be the novel target for CaP treatment.
