Objective:To study the expression of epidermal growth factor (EGFR) and transforming growth factor-α(TGF-α)in human prostatic adenocarcinoma (PAC),high grade prostate intraepithelial (HGPIN) and benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).Methods:Collected 41 specimens of prostatic carcinoma(32 Specimens combined HGPIN) and specimens of benign prostatic hyperplasia, the expression of EGFR and TGF-αwas determined by Immuohistochemisitry staining. The expression of the EGFR and TGF-αand the relationship with histopathologic classificant were analyzed.Results:(1) The EGFR positive rate were 53.6%,56.3%,85.4%in PAC,HGPIN and BPH, between BPH and HGPIN, BPH and PAC the difference was statistically significant (p<0.01).EGFR positive rate in PAC and adjacent HGPIN, different Gleason grade PAC was not statistically significant. (2) TGF-αrate were 56.1% and 85.4% in PAC and BPH, there is significant difference between the two, the positive rate was no significant difference in PAC and HGPIN, different Gleason grade PAC. (3) EGFR,TGF-αin HGPIN and BPH were negatively correlated, and has a positive correlation in PAC.Conclusions:EGFR and TGF-αexpression level was different in PAC,HGPIN and BPH, combined detection of three can be useful for the diagnosis, differential diagnosis and evaluation in benign and malignant prostate diseseas. The expressions of EGFR and TGF-αplay roles in the pathogenesis of prostatic adenocarcinoma.
