The Comparative Study Of The Interventional Therapy (PTCA+STENT) And Surgical Treatment (CABG) For Coronary Heart Disease In Zhongshan Hospital

[BACKGROUND]Coronary artery atherosclerotic heart disease (CHD) is a common cardiovascular disease which seriously endangers human health. It causes death, disability and loss of work, life skills etc. With the continuous improvement of people's living standards, China's CHD morbidity and mortality rates increased rapidly year by year. In recent years, the technologies of interventional therapy (Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty plus STENT, PTCA+STENT) and surgical treatment (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting, CABG) are developing rapidly. In addition drug therapy, they are the three major treatment means of CHD. However, PTCA+STENT and CABG are different from indications, surgical success criteria, efficacy of operation and cost et al. In order to promote the rational application of technology, it is necessary to make a comparative study of the two methods.[OBJECTIVE]Based on the clinical data from Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, the study compared with the safety, efficacy and effectiveness of PTCA+STENT and CABG, then put forward some recommendations for the reasonable use of the two methods.[DATA ANALYSIS METHODS]The retrospective study chose the patients with CHD that performed by PTCA+STENT and CABG from January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2005 in Zhongshan hospital. Field survey was performed with 100 sampling with two treatment methods, among them, 50 cases was performed by PTCA+STENT, 50 cases was performed by CABG. Then the study completed a comparative analysis of the patients' baseline, surgery and the situation after one year. Relevant data used SPSS 11.0 statistical software for single factor analysis and multivariate analysis.[RESULTS]PTCA+STENT and CABG have been widely used in the treatment of complex coronary artery disease in Zhongshan hospital, Fudan University. The two methods are similar in the safety and efficacy of operation. However, CABG is more economical than PTCA+STENT.[SUGGESTIONS]Based on the results of the comparative analysis, the paper made some suggestions from doctors, hospitals, industry association, departments of health administration and patients. Doctors need to improve the treatment skill continually and strive to achieve a reasonable treatment. Hospitals should strengthen its academic development and personnel training, improve internal management system and build a harmonious relationship between doctors and patients. Industry association should conduct a large sample study, strengthening clinical information collection and promote technological exchange. Health administration departments should strengthen management of quality and costs monitoring, improve the policy of medical insurance, pay attention to professional training, and all of these are to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of patients to the greatest extent possible. Patients should focus on prevention, understand the knowledge of surgical treatment of CHD and strengthen their self-protection.
