Cassia seed is one of common used Traditional Chinese herbs.It was firstly recorded in《Shen Nong Ben Cao Jin》and was classified as top grade drugs.Then,it has been recorded in Chinese Pharmacopoeias as the dry and ripe seed of Cassia obtusifolia L.or Cassia tora L..Cassia obtusifolia L.is mainstream variety of cassiae seed in goodsand.In recent years the demands of cassia seed is increasing in internation and domestic。This text is the topic of the National Science and Technology Ministry of Science and Technology of the projects of basic conditions platform " medicinal plant germplasm resources finishing standardization,integration and sharing pilot projects" as part of research projects.Author carry out the following research to research and evaluate the quality for cassia seed.We has achieves the following results and innovation.Through looking up the literature and investigate on the spot,Author study the hellebore and the latin systemic name of Cassia obtusifolia L..We agree the standpoint that we can list Cassia obtusifolia L.and Cassia tora L.as two separate sub-species which was contained in Chinese Pharmacopoeias 2005.We first collect 50 samples which come from 7 provinces,24 county and formulate the Descriptors and Data Standard for Cassia obtusifolia L.We describe the each germplasm resources,including biological characteristics,such as 94 that the contents of the summary description of germplasm resources.Result we discove that each germplasm resources have difference in many aspects such as plant morphology,Characters medicine and chemical composition.These different decision that may cause the differences in the quality of medicines.The text research the control article and the developing solvent system of Thin-Layer Chromatographic Identification Test for cassia seed.We select the best developing solvent system is mixture of N-hexane,acetidin and formic acid.Spots is better than Chinese Pharmacopoeias 2005.We study the TLC of cassiae seed with the control article that is emodin,chrysophanol and physcione.Determine the content of the emodin,chrysophanol and physcione in semen cassiae by HPLC.The method is better than the method which was contained in Chinese Pharmacopoeias 2005.Draw the draft of quality standard of Cassia Seed.Compared with Chinese Pharmacopoeias 2005,it has been added the water,acid insoluble ash inspection,water soluble extractive and alcohol-soluble extractive. In the identification we study the TLC of cassiae seed with the control article that is emodin,chrysophanol and physcione.In determination of respect,the text determine the content of the emodin,chrysophanol and physcione in semen cassiae by HPLC.Besides,we primarily establish the HPLC fingerprint of medical material of Cassia obtusifolia L.from different parts of China, preliminaryset up the anthraquinone communion mode and one of the five major components were assigned.The text prescribe different medicines for the similarity evaluation.Thus we reflect the inner quality character entirely of cassia seed.The first time we use a comprehensive score method with eight index including characters medicine,extractive and characters medicine to evaluate the quality.After comprehensive analysis,We come to the conclusion that the quality of Daping Township Nanxi County Yibin City Sichuan Province and Dongbanpo Village Chengguan Town Sheqi County Henan Province is higher.
