Studies On The Quality Of Raw Materials Of Epimedium

The original plants of Herba Epimedii are Epimedium brevicornum Maxim.,E. sagittatum(Sieb.et Zucc.) Maxim.,E.pubescens Maxim.,E.koreanum Nakai and E. wushanense T.S.Ying according to China Pharmacopoeia(2005 edition).,and there are other three species including E.acuminatum Franch.,E.myrianthum Stearn(E. coactum H.R.Liang & W.M.Yan) and E.leptorrhizum Stearn in 'Guizhou Criteria for Traditional Chinese Medical Material and Nationality Medical Material'.It is necessary to study on the quality of the crude drugs,because the original plants of Herba Epimedii are widely distributed and different species are used.The main content of this dissertation is as follows:1.Research on the quality standard for standardized extract from GuizhouThe quality study on the semi-works production of standardized extract from E. acuminatum Franch.and E.wushanense T.S.Ying was carried out.The content of the epimedin C and icariin,the proportion between this two flavonoid components, the content of total flavonoids,ash content and moisture content were determined.Put the extract in a common temperature place away from light,and test the items above on the first,second,third,sixth and twelfth month to get the quality stability situation. Upon all above,the quality standard of the standardized extract made from Epimedium plants in Guizhou province was compiled.2.Investigation on the quality of Epimedium extracts from marketThe quality of Epimedium extracts from market is investigated by determining the content of icariin,epimedin C,sagittatoside B and total flavonoids using HPLC and UV,and labled because the quality of estracts are changed largely according to the difference of original species and resources.More items should be tested to make sure the stability of the extract quality.3.The quality study on the Chinese patent drug containing Epimedium12 Chinese patent drugs with different dosage forms containing Epimedium were selected.And the contents of icariin,epimedin C and sagittatoside B by HPLC and UV in the drugs were determined.The quality of Epimedium raw materials,which consists the patent drugs,was also evaluated.4.The quality fluctuation of Epimedium koreanum Nakai.with the growing seasonsIt is deserved concern that in the quality study of Herba Epimedii,the growing seasons greatly affects the components of flavonoids in Epimedium koreanum Nakai. Therefore,HPLC and UV methods are used to determine icariin,epimedin C, sagittatoside B,and the HPLC fingerprint is investigated as well.5.Isolation and identification of low polarity components from E.acuminatum Franch.Systematic chemical studies on E.acuminatum Franch.in low polarity part of extracts by the methods of silica gel,Sephadex LH-20,HPLC.As a result,seven compounds are isolated.The structures of these compounds were elucidated by advanced technology of spectroscopy,including IR,UV,1HNMR,13CNMR, EI-MS,ESI-MS,ect.6.Preparation of standard epimedin A,epimedin C.The standard epimedin A,epimedin C.are isolated and puried from crud drug of Epimedium.
