An Investigation Of Epilepsy And The Efficacy Of Valproate Sodium Of Epilepsy In Rural Eares Of Guangxi

Objective:To study the general state,treatment gap,drug treatment status quo,and the curative effect of valproate sodium of epilepsy in rural eares of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.Metheds:The survey was carried out in the person who are suspected or diagnosed in the rural areas in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,Tiandong, Tianyang,Pingguo,Tiandeng.All the people with a definite epilepsy or with a possible epilepsy found during the screening phase were checked again by neurologists.The epileptic thus screened underwent treatment of valproate sodium(VPA).Results:303 cases of epilepsy were diagnosed,295 patients were dignosed as active epilepsy.46.6%patients have not taken any treatment,45.5%patients are taking or had taken westen medicine,6.3%treated by Chinese crude drug or local folk prescription,2%patients were unknown.The treatment gap of active epilepsy was 81.0%.295 patients were enter the treatment group.The significant effective rate of VPA was 58.6%,the total effective rate of VPA was 75.2%,and 24.8%patients were out of control.The patients whose course of disease are less than one year and the patients who have not had any treatment got better therapeutic efficacy.Conclusions:The treatment gap in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region is higher than domestic other rural areas.About 75%patients with epilepsy were under control by taking VPA,but long course of disease and unregular treatment may result bad prognosis.So it is necessary to think high of regular treatment and develop a consummate system of administration of epileptic.
